ZETA AMICAE OF EAST POINT

As early as 1940, graduate chapters of Zeta Phi Beta began to realize the importance of the prestige, goodwill, and cooperation of women who, for various reasons, were not members of any Greek-letter organization.  Under the administration of Soror Lullelia Harrison, the first Amicae chapter was organized in Omaha, Nebraska in 1947, making Zeta the first sorority in the National Pan-Hellenic Council to organize an auxiliary group. Zeta Amicae are affiliated through local graduate chapters.

The Zeta Amicae of East Point was organized under the administration of Soror Marynette Lovejoy and the group was chartered at the Georgia State Leadership Conference in April 1982. The Amicae continued to operate with seven active members through 1985. Thereafter, membership waned, and the auxiliary became inactive.

As Kappa Iota Zeta Chapter continued to grow, it remained committed to the Amicae. In 2001, under the administration of Soror Tecia McKay, the Amicae was reactivated and a new charter was issued on December 20, 2007.  Soror Haroldine Crowder served as the Amicae Sponsor and Soror Keisha Thompson served as the Auxiliary Coordinator. Zeta Amicae of East Point is actively engaged in supporting Kappa Iota Zeta initiatives as well as Zeta International programs.
